McPhar Geosurveys Ltd, the technical hub of the AMG group, can trace its origins back nearly 50 years. McPhar was one of the pioneers in developing the concept of using Airborne Geophysics as an efficient tool for Mining and Oil Exploration.

The initial successful test flights of the Stanmac-McPhar fixed-wing airborne EM (AEM) system in Canada, during the summer of 1948, after a year of development, can be considered to be the birth of the AEM technique of exploration geophysics.
